Smoking cessation – Trials and ordeals you may face

Managing nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms can be an exasperating task, which can leave even the strongest of men helpless. A smoker who is in the habit of smoking for years may find it hard to live and cope without his or her daily dose of nicotine. Though medications such as Champix varenicline are available to reduce nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms, some people decide to quit smoking cold turkey and suffer from nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Some of them are as follows:

- Sleeping problems

It is a physiological symptom and many people do not get to attain a deep sleep because of it. Lack of nicotine in the body leads to this problem, and many people toss and turn in their bed unable to get some restful sleep. Champix side effects are insomnia and vivid dreams and so it may be not quite helpful to solve this problem.

- Tiredness

Nicotine is a stimulant and it makes you feel more charged. Therefore, when you quit smoking, you may easily feel tired and exhausted because of lack of nicotine. When you take Champix varenicline, it binds to nicotine receptors, stimulates them, and make for the loss of nicotine.

- Depression

This point is connected to the point above in some aspects. When you quit smoking, you do not enjoy the lull and pleasure you get when you smoke. Moreover, if you light up every time you are stressed, you may get depressed when you quit smoking. All this leads to depression. However, Champix varenicline gives you the same feeling that you get when you smoke by attaching to nicotinic receptors. This allows you to quit smoking without getting depressed.

Champix helps by reducing withdrawal symptoms and nicotine cravings. Some of the Champix side effects are similar to these symptoms and hence it is difficult to say if they are nicotine cravings or Champix side effects.
